Teachers everywhere are struggling to close literacy gaps that have developed due to lengthy COVID-19 school closures in the past year. The Joyful Literacy Team has developed an Intervention Framework proven to be effective at accelerating reading levels in a short period of time. We believe, from our experience and data, that when primary teachers implement this Framework in February 2021, many students will be caught up by June 2021.
For the past seven years the Joyful Literacy Framework has proven to be highly effective at meeting the needs of over 30%of Kindergarten students who typically enter school vulnerable. The same strategies have also proven to work quickly to meet the needs of students who have skill gaps resulting from COVID related closures. This Summit will provide all participating K to 3 schools and teachers with a proven, step-by-step, emergency literacy-intervention plan. We will provide supporting materials online for participants to accompany the plan.
